Luce Drayton - To Be Loved (Disco Citizen Rmx) This promotional CD was released in 2003 when I was with the local Progressive House consortium called Groove Genetics. I had great joy making this as I had to dig into my record collection and find tracks that meant something to me one time or the other, and at the same time rediscovering my roots in the process. Predominantly, the music hails from the Epic House era, which very much shaped the way for the Progressive House and Trance genres of today. I still find comfort in these "classic" sounds of Dave Seaman, BT, Way Out West, Sasha... and I'm sure some of my peers will agree likewise. They don't make music like that anymore! Amongst all those huge breakdowns, riffs and chords, our memories of our entry into club culture are lodged deep in the canals of these blueprints. When everything else is becoming too much of a chore to listen to, retro ain't such a bad word after all, especially when it's this meaningful and memorable. Here's to those days (circa 1990 - 1998).

This was my second promotional CD, mixed solely on Pioneer gears after having some of Phil K's breaks philosophy rubbed onto me via his debut gig here eons ago. Some embrace it, others refuse it. And many choose not to understand it. The advent of breaks several years ago brought an additional avenue for non-mainstream dance music. Although it's not easy to digest as compared to other genres, but one cannot deny it's growing potential. This CD was a showcase as well as an outlet for me to cut new grounds away from the style that people know me for. The bulk of talent featured were from Australia. The land down-under has always been a source of inspiration for the world and some of those reasons are found here.

It was also the nerve centre of an independent club night called Solace which was a brain-child of a lawyer and several like-minded DJ mates. It was perhaps the first of it's kind in Singapore that catered to the ever growing Progressive House and Trance community. Since it's debut in October 1999 and despite having a lifespan of about one year, Solace made an impact, earned itself a respectable following and has given many at each monthly event, memories that they will last an entire lifetime. I had the privilege to be a part of the team. The mix captured the spirit and sound of my various outings with Solace... and it also marked the start of my journey as a Progressive / Trance DJ.
