This promotional CD was released in 2003 when I was with the local Progressive House consortium called Groove Genetics. I had great joy making this as I had to dig into my record collection and find tracks that meant something to me one time or the other, and at the same time rediscovering my roots in the process.
Predominantly, the music hails from the Epic House era, which very much shaped the way for the Progressive House and Trance genres of today.
I still find comfort in these "classic" sounds of Dave Seaman, BT, Way Out West, Sasha... and I'm sure some of my peers will agree likewise. They don't make music like that anymore!
Amongst all those huge breakdowns, riffs and chords, our memories of our entry into club culture are lodged deep in the canals of these blueprints. When everything else is becoming too much of a chore to listen to, retro ain't such a bad word after all, especially when it's this meaningful and memorable.
Here's to those days (circa 1990 - 1998).

Singapore's pioneering progressive / trance DJ started his DJing career in 1991 and was launched into the public eye with repeated guest appearance at Zouk's "Sessions". He has garnered over a decade of deck and studio experience and over the last 5 years, amassed worthy mentions and credits from all the big international boys after securing the spot of support DJ for the Gatecrasher tours in Singapore.
In the past years, the popularity and hype revolving around his name has rocketed sky high whilst DJing alongside stellar gods such as Hybrid, Paul van Dyk, Scott Bond, Above & Beyond, Solarstone, Darude, Agnelli & Nelson, Pulser, Matt Darey, John Askew, Kyau vs Albert, Thrillseekers, Lange, Misja Helsloot, Gareth Emery and Mike Koglin.
It has been a phenonmenal journey, and he is constantly gathering more accolades with high profile gigs like Mt Fuji Rock Festival 1999, Bali NYE 2006, Midem 2000 Opening Party (Carnes) and etc. His career has brought him to many corners of the globe, from Hong Kong to Prague, from Malaysia to Japan, from Indonesia to United Kingdom...
Thus far, he has anchored for local brand nights like ongoing the locally popular PROGRESSIONS, ACCELERATION and SPACE 2020; inclusive of Singapore club residencies at Centro, Liquid Room and Barbaablackchic. He has been featured with several guest mix sets for international broadcasts like Solarstone's Deep Blue Radio Show on DI.FM and John Askew's show on VONYC.
On the music production note, he has done remix work on Marco V's "False Light" and Lange's "Sincere For You", both of which saw releases on limited-vinyl editions in Europe.
And dabbling in the world of uber cool afterhours sound, Yukun is a monthly feature on Singapore's Lush 99.5 FM's Saturday Mix Shows and is also hosting his own weekly mid-week show with the station.
He has also graced the decks of Ministry Of Sound (Singapore) as a guest DJ under the Progressions banner.
